ARTIST STATEMENT

I make art in order to render visible a personal and aesthetic territory where I get to think about the way reality is constructed. I look to create spaces that address perceptual as well as social questions, as we  relate to the material world. Working on my art, i have learned that experiencing spatial tension via the tactile is an invaluable human faculty. it is conducive to developing among other things, our capacity for intuition. The scale of care, gets to be re-lived by looking at brushwork or human marks , and act as velocity & pulse-documents. by looking at the crafted scale of the art object we may be reminded that technology gets but to sprinkle the pulse in the complex context we live in. I am interested in EXPLORing meaning and how it is created.

PAINTING INVESTIGATION

Most of the work I make is conceived in series. This is a method I use so I can learn different things about painting and in turn about reality. The series inform each other as i get to hands-on explore, observe and experience approaches to figurative painting and compare differences in the process and how these may or may not affect  my perception of time. using and achieving saturated color is one of the formal aspects that  continues to lead  my work.   I paint,  so i can create into existence and see what i haven’t seen; not in the literal sense but in the pictorial sense. painting is the definition of freedom.  That freedom allows for all kinds of psychic conditions: If you follow intuition you may end up navigating time in both directions; painting others’ paintings you never saw, painting the new beginnings that haven't happen yet. The surprise of what shapes may be brought about with paint gets combined with my going on spelling it out as needed. if In the end I’m getting pretty literal, at least My outcomes are never calculated.
