This body of work has its source in printed matter from magazine pages and jpgs. I am looking to play with found aesthetics as I go from an existing picture that already looks like a painting, appropriated or mine, into a new picture that may keep aspects from the original source. I study and experience looking at color through the monitor, which has translated into a saturated saccharine color-palette. I am frugal with the paint and my brush work, favor wet-on-wet and also, will come back for small details. Working on these paintings, I realized I am interested in fashion: I want to reflect a way that is empowering femininity, referencing gloss and paying homage to the mystery of glamour.
